The Sail Division has finalized the schedule for the 2018 r/c sailing season that will begin on Sunday, April 15 with a Dragon Force 65 regatta at the large sailing pond in Humber Bay Park East. The schedule was developed in consultation with fleet captains David Allsebrook for Soling, Tom Madarasz for Victoria and Christian Pavey for Dragon Force, and Glen Barrett for Tuesday night racing and Michael Steele for Thursday One Meter nights.
Here are the main highlights of the new schedule. As in previous years, there will be:
- Sunday regattas for the three fleets
- Tuesday night racing for the Victoria and Dragon Force fleets
- One Meter class (IOM, US One Meter, etc) racing on alternate Thursday nights and
- informal Saturday sailing at the Humber ponds
The biggest change in the schedule this year is the addition of racing for the Soling class on alternate Thursday nights.
The schedule also includes three special regattas — the Colenbrander Cup for Soling (June), an inter-club Victoria regatta with the 50 Point club (August) and the Dragon Force Canadian National Championship Regatta (September). These latter two events are subject to confirmation.
Lastly, some of the Sunday regattas have had to be moved Saturdays to avoid conflicts with park closures due to marathons and other special events.
